E Alma ste second book contains two TREKKING Pagès, lyrically justified by present meeting in full a full movement the poetic: the light lost in childhood, the reunion with the light and its celebration of the word.
The book includes beautifully this structure, which responds to their metaphorical content. The first part, entitled "Laietana," evokes the city of Barcelona, \u200b\u200bthe former Iberian town of Laie, perched on the mountain of Montjuic, the origin of the name of one of
arteries current Barcelona: Via Laietana. In the sequence of its three sections, Soledad, Rambla de les flors and Via Augusta, the voice that says in the poems of the book goes stained by childhood memories, and physical distance and time, to accompany the reader on a tour of the inner city . already into the second section, the poems suggest loss, orphans: one terrible blow, even if it occurs when the heart begins to open and flourish, and finally, the lines go out louder and exposed to the world, Via Augusta, in which madness, destruction reign, and where "the sarcasm of the hangman / poisons memory."
Alma Pagès, for years based in Madrid, has managed to present in a delicate, evocative and complex fluid composition, where personal memory of his native Barcelona stained mythic resonance and vice versa, also the mythic journey is filled from personal experience. But, indeed, behind the inner time of the book, guess real time, historical, in the poems: the poet of loss and defeat it is also a historical time, namely Spain.
Thus, the book is illuminated in a new light: no longer is the story of an individual, but the story of a family and, by extension, that of Spain facing the horror, madness and war, and he did not know or know what to do with a basket of flowers in one hand and the other ready to fight.
The second part of the book, "Poems that I forgot to write a youth" is a suite of poems that celebrate the birth, youth always, the joy of guilleniano live. If writing were forgotten, so do not write, and now these poems come to fill the void?
